Language Pet Peeve of the Day: Bemuse

It does not mean what you think it means.

People always seem to use “bemused” to mean, “slightly amused, sometimes in a curious and/or eye-rolly way.”  But that’s not what it means.  It means “confused” or “preoccupied.”  Bewildered.  Dazed.
